Decorate your Christmas tree with these beautiful handmade ornaments!

We’re already in the Christmas spirit! We love to spend a lovely Saturday afternoon making these ornaments on the couch, enjoying a cup of tea or hot chocolate. Now we’d love to share these lovely creations with you, and we’re going to write down the steps so you can decorate your tree extra beautifully.

Little star with superduos and 8/0 seed beads

The star is approximately 3 x 3 cm and for 1 pendant you need the following:

  • 45x superduos – hematite
  • 15x Miyuki seed beads 8-4203 (duracoat galvanized yellow gold)
  • Fireline wire 0.20 mm

We used the thickest fireline to make the pendants sturdier and hold their shape well. With this star, the wire is visible on the sides of the superduos, so be mindful of the color of the wire you choose. Fortunately, because I used hematite beads and the gray fireline, the wire isn’t noticeable.

You work in circles, so we will describe the steps in rounds.

Round 1:
String 5 superduos and 5 seed beads alternately onto your wire. Tie a knot with the end of the wire so the beads form a circle. Continue threading until you come out of a superduo and then thread back through this superduo, but through the other threading hole.

Round 2:
Thread one super duo, one seed bead, and another super duo onto the wire.

Now thread it through the second threading hole of the next super duo in the circle.

Thread another super duo, one seed bead, and another super duo onto the wire. Now thread it through the second threading hole of the next super duo in the circle.

Repeat until you’ve completed the circle.

Round 3:
Thread the wire in the opposite direction through the second hole of the super duo where your wire is now coming out.

Thread one super duo, one seed bead, and another super duo onto the wire.

Now thread through the second hole of the next super duo in the circle.

Thread one super duo.

Thread through the second hole of the next super duo in the circle again.

Repeat this alternately until you have completed the circle. Thread the wire a short distance through the same circle so that you end with the wire from the next seed bead.

Round 4:
Thread the wire through the second hole of the next super duo (these are the areas where the wire will remain visible).

Thread one super duo onto the wire and thread it through the second hole of the next super duo. (2x)

Now thread your wire through the seed bead and the second hole of the next super duo.

Repeat until you’ve reached the end of the circle. Thread the wire through the same circle a bit more, so you end with the wire from the next seed bead.

Round 5:
Thread the wire through the second hole of the second consecutive super duo.

Thread one super duo onto the wire and thread it through the second hole of the next super duo and through the seed bead.

Repeat until you’ve reached the end.

Weave the thread back through a few beads, each in the opposite direction, to secure it.

I chose to use a piece of fireline as a loop for the star to hang from. If you’d prefer to finish this with beads, you can also string 11/0 seed beads into a loop (as in the other examples).

Star pendant with seed beads – variant 1

The star is approximately 4.5 x 5 cm.
For one pendant, you’ll need the following:

  • 30x superduos (2.5x5mm) – gold shine yellow sun
  • 30x superduos (2.5x5mm) – matte metallic flax
  • 150x Miyuki seed beads 11-4202 (duracoat galvanized gold)
  • 6x Miyuki seed beads 8-4203 (duracoat galvanized yellow gold)
  • 12x Miyuki seed beads 6-4203 (duracoat galvanized yellow gold)
  • Fireline wire 0.20 mm

I used the thickest fireline to make the pendants sturdier and help them hold their shape well.

You work in circles, so we will describe the steps in rounds.

Round 1:
Thread two 6/0 seed beads and one 8/0 seed bead onto the wire, repeating this six times. Tie a knot with the end of the wire so the beads form a circle. Continue threading until your wire comes out of an 8/0 seed bead.

Round 2:
String four superduos – gold shine yellow sun onto the wire and thread the wire through the small (8/0) seed bead. The superduos will then sit above the 6/0 seed beads.

Repeat until you are round.

Round 3:
Now thread the yarn back through the second hole of the next superduo.

Thread one matte metallic flax superduo onto the yarn and thread it through the second hole of the next superduo.

Thread one gold shine yellow sun superduo onto the yarn and thread it through the second hole of the next superduo.

Thread another matte metallic flax superduo onto the yarn and thread it through the second hole of the next two superduos.

Repeat until you’ve reached the end.

Round 4:
Now thread the wire through the second hole of the next superduo.

Thread one matte metallic flax superduo onto the wire and thread it through the second hole of the next superduo. Repeat this step once more.

Thread four 11/0 seed beads onto the wire and thread them through the second hole of the next superduo.

Repeat until you’ve reached the end.

Round 5:
Insert the thread back through the second hole of the next super duo.

Thread one super duo – matte metallic flax onto the thread and insert it through the second hole of the next super duo.

Thread three 11/0 seed beads onto the thread and insert them through the four seed beads from the previous round.

Thread another three 11/0 seed beads onto the thread and insert them through the second hole of the next super duo.

Repeat until you have completed the round.

It’s best to now thread the thread a short distance through the same round: through the three super duos and then through 10 seed beads.

Round 6:
Thread three 11/0 seed beads onto the wire and insert them through the second hole of the next super duo.

Thread another three 11/0 seed beads onto the wire and insert them through all 10 seed beads.

Repeat until you’ve completed the loop.

For the loop, thread approximately 75 11/0 seed beads onto the wire and pass through three of them.

Weave through a few superduos in different directions to tie off, or tie a knot in a hidden spot.

The gray star was made using this pattern. The 6/0 seed beads were replaced with 6mm conical facets (one facet instead of two 6/0 seed beads).

Used supplies:

  • 30x superduos (2.5x5mm) – hematite
  • 30 superduos (2.5x5mm) – matte metallic silver
  • 6x plastic facet conical 6mm – black opaque
  • 150x Miyuki seed beads 11-401 (opaque black)
  • 6x Miyuki seed beads 8-401 (opaque black)
  • Fireline wire 0.20 mm

Star pendant with seed beads – variant 2

The star is approximately 4.5 x 5 cm.
For one pendant, you’ll need the following:

  • 30x superduos (2.5x5mm) – gold shine yellow sun
  • 20x superduos (2.5x5mm) – saturated metallic biome
  • 150x Miyuki seed beads 11-4203 (duracoat galvanized yellow gold)
  • 6x Miyuki seed beads 8-4203 (duracoat galvanized yellow gold)
  • 12x Miyuki seed beads 6-4203 (duracoat galvanized gold)
  • Fireline wire 0.20 mm

You work in circles, so we will describe the steps in rounds.

Round 1 to 3:
For this star, we follow the same steps as explained in rounds 1 through 3 of variant 1. For the superduos – matte metallic flax, now take the superduos – saturated metallic biome.

Round 4:
Now thread the wire through the second hole of the next superduo.

Thread one superduo – saturated metallic biome onto the wire and thread it through the second hole of the next superduo. Repeat this step one more time.

Thread five 11/0 seed beads onto the wire and thread them through the second hole of the next superduo.

Repeat until you’ve reached the end.

Round 5:
Insert the thread back through the second hole of the next superduo.

Thread one superduo – saturated metallic biome onto the thread and insert it through the second hole of the next superduo.

Thread four 11/0 seed beads onto the thread and insert them through the fifth seed bead from the previous round.

Thread another four 11/0 seed beads onto the thread and insert them through the second hole of the next superduo.

Repeat until you have completed the round.

For the loop, thread about 75 11/0 seed beads onto the wire and insert them back into the other side of the superduo.

Weave through a few superduos to finish off, or tie a knot in a hidden spot.

Have fun making these stars!
